Research in Motion (RIM) is to give BlackBerry users affected by a four day service outage last week that saw email and messaging services floored, a number of premium apps for free.

Meanwhile, BlackBerry enterprise users will be offered one month's technical support for free.

"We are grateful to our loyal BlackBerry customers for their patience. We have apologised to our customers and we will work tirelessly to restore their confidence. We are taking immediate and aggressive steps to help prevent something like this from happening again."
