Adobe MAX 2011: Adobe launches Creative Cloud

At its MAX 2011 technology conference in LA, Adobe has announced Creative Cloud, a collection of tools and services that aims to bring together the company's desktop Creative Suite tools with some new tablet apps and an Internet-based project sharing and syncing system.

The initial version of Creative Cloud is centered around the Adobe Touch Apps, which aim to "enable tablet devices to be an integral part of the creative process."

Adobe says that Creative Cloud will become a hub for viewing, sharing and syncing of files created by Touch Apps and Creative Suite, and includes 20GB of online storage. The company claims it will quickly develop into a service that will deliver access to Adobe's creative applications and services and "become an essential resource for anyone interested in creativity -- all at a highly attractive price."

By early 2012, Adobe says it expects Creative Cloud to include access to the portfolio of Adobe Creative Suite tools as well as the six Touch Apps announced. The offering will include desktop tools such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Premiere Pro, After Effects and new tools such as Adobe Edge and Muse.

Creative Cloud will also include services such as some Adobe Digital Publishing Suite technologies for producing interactive publications for tablets; parts of the Business Catalyst website-managing service; and new design services such as the ability to use webfonts for website design (via technology acquired as part of Typekit. There is also a community element of Creative Cloud, with tools to build an online showcase.

Pricing details will be announced in November.
