MainMenu system maintenance app adds customization

MainMenu, a maintenance program that helps Mac users clean up and optimize their computers, has been updated with a new user interface and the ability to more easily customize tasks.

Version 3 of the program from Austria's Incredible Bee still helps Mac users free up disk space by clearing out unneeded cache and browser data. New updates include a "overlay menu" for quick access to your most-used maintenance tasks, along with a new customization feature that allows you to group several tasks together--and choose to automatically shut down or restart the Mac after the clean-up process is complete.

A pro version of MainMenu 3 adds a few more features, including the option to run daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance scripts; the ability to rebuilt your Mac's Spotlight index; and the power to clean logs, flush the DNS preferences, and disable your Mac's Dashboard.

MainMenu 3 costs $15; the pro version is $19. The program is compatible with computers running Mac OS X 10.6 and is available from the company's Website or the Mac App Store.
