ProcessOne unveils cross-platform mobile messaging service

Android and iPhone users can message each other

Mobile phone users with either Apple iPhones or a handset running Google Android will now be able to talk to each other via their handsets thanks to the launch of a smartphone cross-platform messaging app from ProcessOne.

Text One, which Process One says is similar to BlackBerry Messenger, allows mobile phone owners to send instant messages to each other for free using the handset's existing data plan or a Wi-Fi connections.

Mobile phone owners can also make use of group messaging with a 'reply all' feature, the ability to receive messages when offline and a message tracability function to ensure messages do not get lost.

"With the advances in smartphones over the last couple of years traditional SMS services are becoming outdated, as users are demanding a more real-time and interactive means of communication," said Mickael Remond CEO of ProcessOne

"With the introduction of TextOne we aim to break down the barriers between iPhone and Android users to provide them with a real-time messaging service."

ProcessOne said it plans to offer the service to handsets running Symbian and Blackberry in the near future, to create "a true cross-platform messaging platform".

The company has also developed TextOne Pink, which is a "female-orientated" version of the software.

TextOne and TextOne Pink cost 59p and can be downloaded from Apple's App Store or the Android Market.
