Microsoft Outlook gets LinkedIn add-on

Integrate LinkedIn features into your inbox

Microsoft Outlook users can now see information about LinkedIn contact from their inbox.

The LinkedIn Outlook Connector displays profile photos and LinkedIn activity for any connection you receive emails from.

To access the service, simply download the latest version of Microsoft's Outlook Social Connector and the LinkedIn Outlook Connector. Then restart Outlook and follow the on-screen instructions.

The connector also allows users to click the green 'Add' icon next to a sender's email address to invite them to join their professional network on LinkedIn

"At LinkedIn, we believe every professional is more productive when their professional network is close at hand and available wherever they spend their professional time," said LinkedIn's Elliot Shmukler in a blog.

Shmukler said bringing the network to a member's inbox allowed them to keep track of the projects their connections were working on, as well as get access a the most up-to-date contact information.
