Facebook launches Camera app

Complete with filters, just like Instagram

Facebook has launched its own dedicated camera app for iPhone and iPad.

The app, called Facebook Camera, intends to speed up and simplify using photos with Facebook. The move comes only weeks after Facebook purchased camera app giant Instragram.

Facebook said: "When you launch the app, you'll see a feed of just great photos from the people you care about. You can swipe to see more of any album or tap to enlarge an individual photo."

The app is free and compatible with iOS devices including the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It's unclear whether the app will launch on any other operating system such as Google's Android.

Facebook Camera allows users to upload and share multiple photos in one go and gives the ability add captions, the location and tag friends before uploading.

In a similar way to Instagram, Facebook Camera offers a number of different filter effects to use on photos and editing tools like cropping and rotating.
