Disk-based backup solutions provider, ExaGrid, has posted a "record sales year in 2012," growing its customer base to over 5200 installations at more than 1600 customers.
The company said that this seventh consecutive year of annual growth makes it "the largest installed base of GRID-scalable disk backup with deduplication appliances in the mid-market and small enterprise."

It attributes the result to increasing demand for grid-based, scalable disk backup systems with data deduplication.
2012 also saw ExaGrid grow its global network of value-added resellers (VARs) to over 500, which has led to increasing sales in particularly the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia-Pacific (APAC) markets. It signed new reseller and distributor agreements in Australia, South Africa, the Middle East, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
A key partnership was signed in July 2012 with data backup and disaster recovery company, Unitrends, which ExaGrid said enables mid-sized enterprises to address heterogeneous IT environments and the sprawl associated with data growth.
In addition to its growth result, ExaGrid has released a new book which aims to provide an easy to understand explanation for customers considering disk backup deduplication.
It said that it believes most customers are not aware of the many considerations that need to be assessed when evaluating solutions and the consequences of a wrong decision.
Titled Straight Talk About Disk Backup With Deduplication, the book is available both physically and electronically.
