More than seven in ten (72 percent) of office workers claim the most stylish piece of equipment on their desk is their PC, says Lexmark.

Research by the printer company revealed a quarter claim they'd hide their fax machine if someone visited their desk as it's either 'big and bulky' or does not look 'up to date'.

Two in five office workers said they opt for black-coloured office equipment as it's the most 'stylish' while a quarter said white was their colour of choice and 23 percent preferred silver.

Furthermore, two thirds said they'd pay more for a computer or peripheral if it has a 'fashionable' design. Functionality and ease of use were the key considerations when selecting a piece of office equipment, followed by price and design.

"We're entering a new era of style on the desktop where sleek looks and design meet advanced technology," said Steve Purdy, general manager at Lexmark UK.
