QlikTech introduces businesses to the social with QlikView 11

Latest version of Business Intelligence platform harnesses the power of social interaction for a more collaborative experience

QlikTech has announced a wealth of new features to its Business Intelligence (BI) platform, QlikView, with the release of version 11.

The new edition of the software introduces social decision-making on its self-service to help business users collaborate to make more informed decisions.

Another major addition into QlikView 11 is comparative analysis made possible with associative search, which enables users to carry out interactive comparison into user-defined groupings.

"Our vision for QlikView 11 builds on the fact that decisions aren't made in isolation, but through social exchanges driven by real-time debate, dialogue, and shared insight," QlikTech Australia and New Zealand regional director, Mark Sands, said.

Sands in particular highlights the social business discovery approach of the software being useful in enabling work groups and teams to make decisions faster by collaborating and collectively exploring data anywhere at anytime, as well as on any device.

"Business users are further empowered with new collaborative and mobile capabilities," he added, "and IT managers will appreciate the unified management functionality that allows them to keep control and governance at the core while pushing usage out to the edges of the organisation."

QlikView 11 works by having users participate in live, interactive, shared sessions where they can see others' interactions live, as well as imbue them with the capability to post and respond to notes in the context of any QlikView app.

"Throughout the usage of an app it could include questions, answers, and insights about the data," Sands explained.

"Notes and comments can be added to charts, graphics, and visualisations, and are accessible as threaded discussions."

BI on the move is a key area that QlikTech has been focusing on, and QlikView 11 on Mobile has been designed to provide a robust business discovery experience on touchscreen tablets like the Apple iPad, Android tablets, and BlackBerry Playbook, as well as small touch screens such as the Apple iPhone or Android phones.

Sands points out that this leap is made possible with HTML5 browser technology, and touch-driven interface makes optimal use of the mobile devices to provide interactive analysis, rich visualisation, associative search, and the ability to share apps, data and decision trails.

"QlikView on Mobile delivers an experience that makes BI as easy and compelling to use as consumer apps, while IT retains centralised security and manageability," he added.

Other new additions to QlikView 11 include easier and faster application development, as well as enhanced manageability and security capabilities of the software suite for large enterprises.
