Reading council awards IT managed services contract to Northgate

Reading Borough Council has awarded a £75.6 million, IT managed service contract to Northgate Information Solutions UK.

Under the contract, Northgate will provide a range of IT services including consulting, software development, data storage services, local area network services and telecommunications services.

The contract will start on 1 November, and will last for an initial period of seven years, with an option to extend for a further two years.

Reading's contract award continues an existing relationship with Northgate, which was supplying desktop services to the council under a contract that ended this year. The previous contract used Northgate's ITIL-based "Model Office" methodology for service management.
