70% of firms won't pay to advertise in online directories

192.com launches new free business directory

Seven in ten small firms are not willing to pay to advertise in online directories, say 192.com.

Research by the people and business search engine revealed, of these three in ten said they had no way of knowing how much revenue is generated as a result of the advert, while 40 percent said a directory sales person had over promised and under delivered.

As a result, 192.com has launched BizBuzz.com – a Yellow Pages style online directory that allows firms to upload descriptions of their business and logos for free.

Furthermore, any firm's details uploaded to BizBuzz.com will also be searchable on 192.com.

"When we looked at the business directory market it became clear that both SMEs and consumers are not being served as well as they ought to be," said Alastair Crawford, founder of BizBuzz.com

"BizBuzz.com is aimed at empowering SMEs to market themselves more effectively and for less".
