Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been ordered to preserve email messages in her personal email accounts that relate to state business, according to an Anchorage newspaper.

Palin's email has been in the news since last month, when someone illegally accessed her Yahoo Mail account and published details of her emails on the web.

Wikileaks published several screenshots of Yahoo email messages, email addresses of Palin family members and associates, and other data that had been obtained from Palin's private account.

David C Kernell was indicted earlier this month on a single charge related to the incident of accessing a protected computer by a grand jury in US District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee in Knoxville. The indictment carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He pleaded not guilty to the single charge last Wednesday.
