Symantec unveils Norton One security software

One membership will protect all devices in one household

Symantec has unveiled a personalised security service, called Norton One, which is designed to protect web users across multiple devices.

Research by the security firm revealed consumers in the US have an average of 4.5 internet-connected devices per household, a combination of desktop computers, laptops, tablet PCs and mobile phones. All of which need protection against online threats.

As a result the firm has unveiled Norton One. The security service will require just one membership and a single user interface will be used to manage all devices protected by the software. Symantec said users will be able pick to pick and choose the technologies and support options they need and that new devices can be seamlessly added to the membership and quickly protected.

Furthermore, licenses can be moved between devices or removed if one item is no longer being used.

"Norton One is a one-of-a-kind, new model that will address the security and service challenges that consumers face today," said Janice Chaffin from Symantec

"Norton continues to expand our business with our Norton Everywhere initiative, delivering solutions that are focused on the individual, wherever they go and regardless of the device they're using."

Symantec said Norton One will be available in the first half of 2012. It did not reveal pricing details.
