UKOUG welcomes top Oracle security chief to Bletchley Park

Oracle user group members to hear Oracle's security story

CIOs looking to learn more about data security will be able to hear from Oracle's top security officer at a UK Oracle User Group (UKOUG) event in September.

LulzSec's hacking activities have highlighted the urgent need for organisations to revisit their data security, with Sony Playstation, Morgan Stanley and Sega just some of the companies affected by high profile data breaches in recent months.

At the UKOUG event, chief security officer Mary Ann Davidson will outline Oracle's own strategy on data security, and will be joined by other speakers covering topics such regulations driving data security initiatives and how they can be addressed.

Ian Glover, president of the Council of Registered Ethical Security Testers (CREST) and John Ottman, CEO of database security vendor Application Security, will help to set the scene around data loss and discuss in-depth data breaches.

Meanwhile, Pete Finnigan, who specialises in securing data for users of Oracle databases, will discuss the database security solutions offered by Oracle and other third party vendors, and argue the case for securing data rather than software.

The event, which costs £300 per person, will take place on 13 September at Bletchley Park in Milton Keynes. A tour of the park's grounds will also be on offer during the day.

Details of how to register can be found here.
