Nearly one fifth of UK web users doesn't have encryption on their home network, says Linksys.

The Connected Life Consumer Trends Survey, which was carried out by YouGov, also revealed that of the 17 percent that didn't have some form of encryption on their home network, the majority of these users either did not understand that a wireless network needed to have security features enabled or didn't know if their network was secure.

"When you leave home you always lock the doors and close the windows and the same security measures need to be taken for wireless home networks to help prevent both bandwidth theft and unauthorised access to your confidential information," said Paul McIntosh, Regional Sales Manager for Linksys UK.
