UK businesses lose data at least once a month

And 28 percent mislay data even more regularly

The majority of UK businesses lose data at least once a month.

According to research by IT management company CA, of 250 UK business surveyed, 79 percent admitted to losing data at least once a month, while 28 percent identified that they suffered data losses on a weekly or more frequent basis.

The survey also highlighted that many IT departments suffer from underinvestment. Sixty-eight percent of IT managers claim that they have insufficient budgets and 45 percent expressed their frustration that IT costs were overlooked in favour of new business ventures.

The survey follows an amendment to the Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill which makes mislaying personal data a criminal offence.
