Lexmark unveils three MapQuest SmartSolutions apps

Print directions and check traffic condition straight from a printer

Three new MapQuest apps that allow web users to print directions straight from a printer have been added to Lexmark's range of SmartSolutions apps.

The printer manufacturer’s range of SmartSolutions app enable users of Lexmark's Platinum, Pinnacle, Prestige and interact web-connected all-in-one (AIO) printers, as well as its newest device, the Genesis S815, to print documents and information direct from the device , without the need for it to be connected to a PC.

MapQuest offers the ability for user to search for print directions, while MapQuest traffic will print the latest traffic conditions. Finally MapQuest Concierge enables small business, such as a B&B owners, the ability to offer its customers the use of the ‘Concierge’ app which provides useful local information such as nearby restaurants and attractions. Guests can then quickly print directions to the destination using the app.

A range of different SmartSolutions are available and range from an Envelope Wizard that allows users to print addresses directly on to labels to apps for Photobucket and Picassa, so users can print photos.

There’s also Facebook and Twitter  apps and even a TripIt SmarttSolution that allows users of the holiday itineraries website to view their upcoming trips as well as print paperwork, such as flight and hotel details, all without the need for a PC.
