Casio launches first 12.1Mp compact digicam

12.1Mp Exilim available this month for £279

Casio today announced the release of the Exilim Zoom EX-Z1200 digital camera. Casio's latest Exilim Zoom has a 12.1Mp (megapixel) sensor that will deliver high-resolution shots in a compact camera.

Last year Casio released the Exilim Zoom EX-Z1000, which was the first compact digital camera to boast 10.1Mp resolution. The all-new Casio Exilim EX-Z1200 beats its predecessor, managing a whopping 12.1Mp resolution — the highest shot resolution currently available in any compact digital camera. In April, Casio released the Casio Exilim EX-Z75 - click here for our review.

The Exilim EX-Z1200 has a built-in image stabiliser and is able to detect and compensate for motion, helping prevent blurry shots. The auto-tracking AF system now combines both face detection and motion analysis technologies.

The Casio Exilim EX-Z1200's specification also includes a 3X optical zoom, as well as automated ISO sensitivity and shutter speed. There's a movie mode with electronic camera shake compensation function, a three shots per second maximum cluster speed and a 2.8in widescreen LCD.

The Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z1200 will be available in the UK and Eire from later this month in both silver and black, with a guide retail price of £279. Keep checking PC Advisor reviews for our first review.
