BaseKit creates community for web designers who design sites based on its templates

BaseKit, a service that allows end users to design their own websites, has launched an initiative to attract professional web designers to offer customisations beyond what's possible using the service's templates.

BaseKit says that 40,000 small businesses a month use its services to create a new commercial website, and that many of which seek additional freelance design support. The new BaseKit Professional Network aims to act a conduit between these small businesses and web designers.

In addition to offering access to new business leads, the free-to-join network provides members with profile to showcase work; forums to network and collaborate with fellow designers; early access to BaseKit's upgrades and new features; financial incentives, as well as video tutorials.
