Sony adds Netflix to Entertainment Network

Expands portfolio with on-demand streaming service

Sony has announced that film and TV streaming service Netflix is available via its Sony Entertainment Network.

Customers can now stream full length films and TV shows via selected Sony Bravia TVs, Blu-ray players, network media players and the Playstation3. Netflix has been added to the list of services which included YouTube and BBC News.

"Adding Netflix to the Sony Entertainment Network, gives consumers an even broader choice of devices to instantly watch unlimited TV programmes and films streamed over the Internet," said Greg Peters, vice president of product development at Netflix. "We’re always looking to provide people with new ways to enjoy Netflix."

Sony said the Netflix app is available to download on all 2012 Bravia TVs and Blu-ray devices which have the Sony Entertainment Network. Earlier this month Sony added Netflix rival Crackle to its Entertainment Network.

Edd Uzzell, category development manager at Sony said: "We’re very excited about the addition of Netflix to our Sony Entertainment Network portfolio. All of our consumer products – whether that is a Bravia, Vaio, Tablet or Xperia – are designed to provide the best quality content possible, and having great content providers offers consumers greater choice for their home cinema experience."

Unfortunately there is no special offer for Sony users so Netflix still comes with a £5.99 per month price tag.
