New Samsung Wireless Webcams Offer Social Features and More

Samsung’s wireless cameras can help you keep watch of your home from almost anywhere.

Need a baby monitor or just like to keep an eye on your home while on vacation? Samsung has you covered with their new Wi-Fi enabled IP cameras. These cameras connect to your home router and let you keep tabs on your loved ones and belongings from anywhere with the help of Samsung’s website.

Both cameras feature a 1.3-megapixel camera and stream live audio and video at a 640 x 480 resolution to almost any smartphone, tablet, or computer. The smaller white camera is meant to be used as a baby monitor. The other is meant to be used with computers and HDTVs as a more traditional webcam. On TVs, the camera offers a suite of pre-installed applications such as Skype.

A new twist with Samsung’s new IP cameras is the addition of social capabilities. The cameras have the ability to post 30 second clips of video to YouTube, as well as the ability to Tweet when a video goes live. Additionally, both cameras come equipped with infrared so they’re just as useful during the night.

Samsung plans to release the cameras in March with a price tag of $149.99 each.
