You've seen it in countless Hollywood movies. And it's easier than ever to do yourself. I'm talking about compositing: the process of combining a foreground subject and a background "plate" to create a single "composite" image. By shooting a subject against a colored background and then using software to remove the color, you can place your subject in any environment you like. This process is called "keying" or "pulling a key."

Beaches, sunsets, football stadiums, bridges, cities, and tons of gorgeous landscape shots flooded our inbox, making this a particularly difficult contest to judge.

News: Twitter launches Vine for sharing quick, looping videos
Twitter on Thursday released a new, video-focused iPhone app--replete with a social network of its own. If a tweet is 140 characters and a picture's worth 1000 words, a six-second video of the sort you can create with Vine must be worth 144,000 words or so, by today's exchange rates.
