CES: 3M MPro150 projector doubles as laptop

No need to carry laptop AND projector?

3M this week here at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is showing the 3M MPro150 - a portable projector that it says will remove the need for travelling business people to carry both a laptop and a projector.

The 3M MPro150 projects images up to 50-inches at 15 lumens brightness. It includes 1GB internal memory, a micro SD card slot and a USB input for transferring files from a laptop or netbook. This means that, in principle at least, presentations could be transported around the world on the device itself, or at least via memory stick or even email.

To facilitate this the MPro150 supports Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, Adobe's PDF, and photos and video.

"The 3M MPro150 puts an entire suite of presentation tools into the business professional's pocket," said 3M's Mark Colin. "With no need to pack a separate laptop or projector, business professionals can travel a bit lighter. It's great for use at home and on-the-go, as well."

The 3M MPro150 is lightweight and small, and has integrated MP3 player and headphone jack, plus integrated stereo speakers. But it is far from cheap: when it begins to ship next month its price will be around $395.
