Logitech: Microsoft takeover "without sense"

Logitech chairman dismisses MS buyout rumours

Logitech chairman Guerrino De Luca has spoken out against a proposed takeover by Microsoft, branding it "an operation without sense".

Rumours of a takeover estimated to be worth $8bn (£4bn) started in January but, in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, translated by Reuters, De Luca slammed the claims.

"I reiterate, without competition Logitech would lose the great pressure to innovate [if the takeover was complete].

"Moreover there would be problems from antitrust authorities seeing as the two companies together would have a virtual global monopoly in mice and keyboards," De Luca said.
