Samsung files patent lawsuit against Apple in South Korea

Samsung contends that Apple infringed three patents with iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

Samsung Electronics this week filed a lawsuit against Apple, alleging infringement of three patents used in the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

The lawsuit was filed in Seoul Central District Court. Samsung previously filed a separate patent infringement lawsuit against Apple in South Korea last April.

"Samsung will continue to assert its intellectual property rights and defend its investment in innovation in order to ensure our continued growth in the mobile industry," Samsung spokesman Adam Yates said in an email.

The company, which is based in South Korea, did not provide specifics on the case or patents involved.

Samsung and Apple have been filing patent infringement lawsuits against each other in multiple countries. Apple in February filed a patent lawsuit against Samsung in the U.S., asking a federal judge to halt sales of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone. Apple recently lost a ruling in a German court, which paved the way for Samsung to sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1N tablet there.
