As the technical leadership department of OpenDaylight, TSC oversees the integration of best of breed technology and inter-collaboration across all projects.

"We envision the OpenDaylight Project being comprised of numerous projects, all of which will be focused on different aspects of SDN, and the TSC will be responsible for providing direction and guidance," The Linux Foundation executive director, Jim Zemlin, said.

Zemlin also said Meyer's industry and academia background will be particularly beneficial for OpenDaylight.

At Brocade, Meyer is in charge of working with tier-1 service providers, Cloud hosting providers, and Web 2.0 content providers to develop Cloud-optimised network architectures which support next-generation technologies and services.

According to Brocade Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) country manager, Greig Guy, Meyer's experience and leadership within a number of industry organisations will bring value to OpenDaylight and TSC.

In addition to his Brocade and OpenDaylight roles, Meyer is also an active participant within Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the North American Network Operators' Group (NANOG), RIPE Reseaux IP Europeens, APRICOT, and the Open Networking Foundation (ONF).
