Optus Business restructures

Telecommunications provider, Optus Business, has announced its integration with IT services arm, Alphawest, to create a single ICT organisation with intent to serve the end-to-end needs of the Australian business and government market.

Optus Business is adamant the integration will turn it into a 'one-stop shop' for ICT services, offering fixed and mobile connectivity, through to suites of network-centric ICT solutions and managed services.

As part of the restructure, Optus Business confirmed it will place stronger focus on medium-sized business by translating its existing multinational and integration capabilities into the mid-market.

"It is clear our customers on both ends of the scale want a more integrated solution," Optus Business managing director, John Paitaridis, said. "They want a partner that can bridge the divide between the networks that enable the connectivity and the seamless ICT experience and applications which take advantage of the networks."

Alongside the business restructure comes the introducing of a Centres of Excellence program which will see Optus' and Alphawest's capabilities merged to invest in key solution areas in: business application services; Cloud and datacentres; collaboration; contact centres; bring-your-own-device (BYOD); machine-to-machine (M2M).

Dedicated specialists have been assigned to consult, design, build, deploy, and manage solutions in these areas.

The operational restructure will also have Optus Business align with NCS in Australia with focus on delivering business application services; It will offer NCS Cloud and mobility solutions direct to its customers.

Optus Business also promises an expanded set of solutions and capabilities for Australian customers around Cloud aggregation, microstrategy mobile analytics platform, mobile application development platform, and network supply chain solutions.
