NSW Government encourages ICT reform feedback

The NSW Government is encouraging the ICT industry to have a say on its plan to deliver better services through ICT usage and procurement.

Public consultation on the NSW Government ICT Strategy implementation update for 2013 has begun, through the Government's Have Your Say website.

Minister for finance and services, Greg Pearce, said it was important that the community and industry is involved in the development of the strategy.

"Since releasing our ICT strategy, the Government has established Service NSW to focus on delivering more effective services for the community and cutting red tape when entering into contracts to supply ICT services to government," he said.

According to Pearce, the NSW Government is delivering on its open data initiative to improve information management, making it easier for small business to engage with government agencies and develop the right skills. "In the past year we have achieved a great deal but we need to build on this by tapping into the expertise of industry and taking advantage of new innovative concepts, market opportunities and technologies available. "I encourage people to have their say on our approach and put their ideas forward on what can be achieved now and in the future," he claimed.

Pearce also highlighted that some of its key priority initiatives include: service NSW, open government, infrastructure and managed services, open data, procurement reform, managing information for better services and ICT skills and innovation.

"These initiatives are underpinned by 85 actions to be delivered as part of a collaborative approach to reform, informed by industry and the community. The consultation findings will be used to build on actions that have been delivered as part of the Government's ICT reform program," he added.
