iPrimus connects first NBN fixed wireless customer in NT

iPrimus, part of M2 Telecommunications Group (ASX: MTU), has connected its first NBN fixed wireless broadband customer in Lambells Lagoon, Northern Territory.

iPrimus launched its fixed wireless product offering in December 2012, which included several plan options -- starting with the entry level 40GB per month plan through to a 1TB plan for under $100 per month.

M2 Telecommunications CEO, Geoff Horth, said NBN Co's fixed wireless technology allowed iPrimus to deliver improved broadband access to those living in many smaller towns and sparsely populated areas.

"As the NBN continues to deliver Northern Territory end users access to improved broadband we aim to continue being at the forefront of delivering the new wireless technology," Horth said.

He also mentioned that the announcement reinforces M2's commitment to the accelerated roll-out of its NBN offering and is another milestone in its strategic relationship with NBN Co.

NBN's fixed wireless network is designed to offer wholesale speeds of up to 12Mbps for downloads and 1Mbps for uploads, with plans to increase these speeds to 25Mbps for downloads and 5Mbps for uploads from June 2013.

iPrimus also most recently connected the first NBN end user in Coffs Harbour, NSW, which was inaugurated by Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy.
