Toowoomba switched on to the NBN

Around 1700 premises in Toowoomba can now sign up for fibre services on the National Broadband Network (NBN).

Six retail service providers (RSPs) are offering services in the area -- iiNet, Internode, iPrimus, Telstra, TransACT and Westnet.

Construction has also begun in parts of Mount Lofty, Prince Henry Heights, Redwood, East Toowoomba, South Toowoomba, Mount Kynoch, North Toowoomba, Harlaxton, Withcott, Rangeville, Kearneys Spring and Centenary Heights.

Construction has now commenced or been completed on 26,000 premises in Toowoomba.

By mid-2015, construction will have commenced or been completed to more than 678,000 premises across Queensland.

Residents in Toowoomba recently experienced mobile and fixed broadband service disruptions due to flooding in the area.

The federal government recently announced 9000 premises are now able to sign up for NBN services across Australia.
