iiNet services on the road

Internet service provider (ISP), iiNet, has launched a team of mobile technical experts who can visit customers' homes in the Brisbane metropolitan area.

The goal of the initiative is to get customers connected properly so services and products deliver iiNet's intended performance.

Brisbane is the fifth city to receive the service. It first ran in Perth, and was then followed by Sydney and Melbourne. Adelaide was added just before Christmas 2012.

Services on offer include broadband connection, model installations, and Internet-ready device connection.

As well as kick-starting ASDL2+ and fibre broadband, the team can configure and secure a customer's wireless network, setup Fetch TV, or connect PCs, tablets, and smartphones to the Internet. General tech advice is also on offer.

The 'techii team' uses specially branded Toyota Prius hybrid-powered vehicles. A one-hour on-site visit costs $99.

iiNet chief customer officer, Maryna Fewstar, said members of the techii team are iiNet employees, not external contractors, meaning that they deal with the products and services regularly.
