Telecommunications service provider, M2 Telecommunications, has partnered with IP networking company, AudioCodes, to develop and deliver a multimedia gateway product to the Australian consumer and small business market.
The new 'all-in-one' gateway comes with built-in wireless N, HD capable voice, CAT IQ 2.0 DECT handset, and can handle multiple VoIP numbers on one device. A 3G dongle backup gives end users an alternative if their ADSL of fibre service is not active.
The device is also equipped with an inbuilt Smart Parental Control client and has local troubleshooting capability which alerts users when a cable is unplugged or a service is down. An optional battery backup is available.
The solution is designed to deliver both traditional copper DSL and fibre optic services in preparation for the National Broadband Network (NBN) rollout.
According to M2, the new gateway will provide a migration path that makes it simple for iPrimus and Commander customers to move from copper to fibre without the need to replace existing hardware.
"Our engineers have been working around the clock to bring this important equipment up to Australian standards and we believe our consumer and small business customers are now set to reap the benefits of what this advanced technology has to offer," M2 chief customer officer, Tom Mazerski, said.
