It has also appointed six new board members to the AIIA: Ajilon Australia's Ger Doyle, Deloitte's Robert Hillard, Avanade Australia's Jeyan Jeevaratnam, Optus John Paitaridis, Maat Solutions' Michael Pym and Oracle Corporation Australia's Ian White.

According to AIIA, the appointments were made as part of its vision for the year ahead.

It said influencing the growth of the Australian economy through ICT innovation and leadership is the central focus for the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) as it heads into 2013.

"The ICT sector in Australia is renowned for entrepreneurship and innovation. From SMEs to listed companies, our membership base represents one of the country's most vibrant industry sectors," AIIA CEO, Suzanne Campbell, said.

"Our goal is to harness this talent and opportunity, to accelerate the digital economy, and ensure the ICT industry is a major contributor to the Australian economy."

New chairman, Wong, claimed the AIIA is also looking to leverage its strategic networks overseas to positively influence economic growth.

"I am particularly excited about how the AIIA can foster opportunities for Australia's ICT companies in Asia, given the recent launch of the Australia in the Asian Century whitepaper by the Prime Minister," he said.

"Together with the team, our members and the industry at large, it will be important to develop strategic partnerships that our members can draw on and that will ultimately contribute to a more sustainable and productive future ICT industry."
