CeBIT: TP-Link gets wired and wireless

New powerline and wireless routers announced

Shenzhen-based network electronics specialist TP-Link announced several new powerline adaptors at CeBIT, along with high-performance wireless routers.

The TP-Link TI-PA511 is a HomePlugAV adaptor listed as having ‘speeds up to 500 Mbps’.

It also claims good power efficiency, as it will switch automatically from ‘working mode’ to ‘power-savin mode’ [sic] to reduce energy consumption by up to 75%.

Meanwhile the TL-PA251 is an AV200+ spec powerline adaptor claiming to enable high transfer rates up to 200 Mbps. It features AC pass-through, with an extra power socket on its front face so that you do not sacrifice a mains outlet when adding this adaptor to the home.

An integrated mains filter is said to optimise performance by suppressing noise interference.

On the wireless front, TP-Link was showing its new TP-WR2834ND, a simultaneous dual-band router for 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless bands. Trouncing the mendacity of other wireless 11n router manufacturers that claim 300Mb/s, this four-port gigabit router headlines with a 50% step-up to ‘450Mbps’ speed.

TP-Link is also a manufacturer of IP cameras for surveillance applications.

At CeBIT 2011 it was showing its first megapixel camera, the TP-Link TL-SC3430. This joins the TL-SC4171G, a wireless pan/tilt PTZ camera of VGA (0.3 megapixel) resolution.
