With a 4.3in (480x800) ClearBlack AMOLED screen and an 8Mp camera with Carl Zeiss lens, Nokia's Lumia 820 is a promising Windows phone. There's a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 8GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM. Nokia claims a battery life of 7 hours talktime and 260 hours standby. Nokia has said in a press release that its Lumia 820 will reach the first operators and retail outlets in the UK and France this week. Nokia's flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone lets you take bright, blur-free photos and videos in any lighting conditions with PureView camera technology and a 4.5in (768x1280) PureMotion HD+ display. Samsung's Ativ S is said to offer a premium Windows Phone 8 experience. It has a 4.8in Super AMOLED display, and adds to its 7GB of internal storage with SkyDrive. There's also a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and an 8Mp camera. The Samsung Ativ S is available to pre-order SIM-free at Amazon for £576, with the release date slated as 7 November; you can also pre-order it on eBay for £449, this time with a release date of 12 November.
When can I buy the HTC Windows Phone 8X?
HTC's Windows Phone 8X is a stylish handset with a 4.3in (720x1080) Super LCD and an 8Mp camera. It's powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and has 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Beats Audio branding and a built-in amplifier promises studio-quality sound. HTC is allowing pre-orders for its SIM-free Windows Phone 8X on Amazon at £399, with a release date of 8 November, yet some vendors are said to be offering the handset from 2 November. The Windows Phone 8S is HTC's budget Windows Phone. It's said to be fitted with an optimised battery that will last as long as you can. There's also a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, a 4in WVGA-resolution touchscreen, 4GB of internal storage (plus a microSD card slot) and Beats Audio sound. You can pre-order the HTC Windows Phone 8S SIM-free at Amazon for £239, where it's due to be released on 15 November.
