Stevie Wonder made a surprise performance at an event in Los Angeles to sing the praises of former Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

Reuters reports that Wonder was attending Wonder-Full, an event in honour of the singer held at a Los Angeles nightclub when he made the comments.

Wonder apparently stopped his set to talk about Jobs, who resigned as CEO of Apple last month, handing the reigns over to Tim Cook.

"I want you all to give a hand to someone that you know whose health is very bad at this time. His company took the challenge in making his technology accessible to everyone. In the spirit of caring and moving the world forward: Steve Jobs. Because there's nothing on the iPhone or the iPad that you can do that I can't do," Wonder told the audience, according to Reuters.

"As a matter of fact, I can be talking to you, you can be looking at me, and I can be doing whatever I need to do and you don't even know what I'm doing!"

Wonder has been blind since shortly after he was borin in May 1950. He has won 22 Emmy awards, the record for a male solo artist.
