The Palm Pre 2 will not be available through any of the UK's mobile networks.

Gadget website Pocket-lint quizzed Orange, Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile and 3. However, all five said they have no plans to offer the handset.

"We have no plans to stock it at the moment", Orange said, while O2 added: "The Palm Pre 2 will not be available".

This means, Brits will only be able to get their hands on the smartphone if they purchase it SIM-free through Palm's website for £399.

The smartphone is the first to be released by Palm, since the mobile manufacturer was acquired by HP earlier this year.

The Palm Pre 2 has a 3.1in screen, runs on a 1GHz processor and features a 5Mp camera. The 145g device is also the first to run WebOS 2.0, Palm's latest mobile platform, which supports Flash 10.1 and HTML5 ensuring users can watch video on the internet.
