Orange has warned its customers the white iPhone 4 won't be available until the end of the year.

According to reports, the mobile network sent emails to customersa who had registered their interest in the white handset.

"We wanted to let you know that there won't be any white iPhone 4’s in the UK until the end of the year," the email said.

"If you're happy to wait another few months we'll let you know as soon as they're back in stock."

Orange's email comes just weeks after Apple’s Steve Jobs revealed the launch of the white handset was delayed.

At a press conference addressing the antenna issues with the phone, Jobs said the white handset would be available in the US towards the end of September. However, no UK availability details have been released by Apple.

Apple's latest smartphone was unveiled by Steve Jobs at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.

The new handset, which features an all-new design, has "well over 100 new features" including an HD screen, video calling, a gyroscope, a new iMovie app and countless other upgrades.
