Motorola Moto X Invite

Motorola has confirmed that it will announce its Moto X smartphone on 1 August.

After months of rumours which started out as the 'Google X phone' we finally know that the Moto X from Motorola will be revealed on 1 August. It's a week before the LG G2 launch and hopefully we'll be treated to full Moto X specs, price and a release date.

Like many smartphone launch events of recent, the Motorola has decided to unveil its new smartphone in New York. The invite features three women and a couple of unnamed devices, one in black and one in white. They look uncannily like leaked images of the Moto X shown below.

Back in May, Dennis Woodside, CEO of Motorola, confirmed the Moto X and said the phone would be part of a portfolio which would reinvent the Google-owned company. See also: Motorola Razr i review.

He didn't give a glimpse of the device which was in his pocket, but said that various sensors will make it 'contextually aware', and anticipate what you need.

Leaked specifications for the Moto X include a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It's also believed to sport a 720p screen of either 4.3in or 4.7in, a 10Mp rear camera, NFC, 4G LTE and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Although this covers the main specifications, it has always been said that the Moto X would be customisable by the users. Whether this means choosing the spec from the off or something simpler like interchangeable covers remains to be seen.
