Macworld UK reports that Vodafone's customer support lines were down over weekend, as the company deals with hordes of customers attempting to cancel their contracts in light of the UK launch of the Apple iPhone.

A report on the Product Reviews website observes: "Vodafone UK's customer service has been down for the whole weekend as a result of defecting customers who wish to head to O2, just so they can get their hands on the new Apple iPhone."

Customers attempting to get help are apparently being faced with an automated call answering system, which does not offer customers the option of cancelling their contract.
