O2 will launch Apple's iPhone in Ireland on March 14, the company has confirmed.

As in the UK, the iPhone will be made available through O2 retail stores and through branches of Carphone Warehouse. The 8GB model will cost €399 (£305), while the 16GB iPhone will cost €499 (£380). Tariffs will begin at €45 (£35) per month, the company said.

This news emerges after the revelation that the most recent iPhone software update implements support for the O2 network in Ireland, and for T-Mobile in Austria.
