LG makes tactile mobile phone

Sensing technology for mobile gaming & TV

Mobile phone users will soon be able to feel broadcasts and games as well as hear and see them due to a new technology a South Korean company is developing for LG’s mobile phones.

Users will feel vibrations from crashes during a racing game or while watching a downloaded action video clip on the LG handset.

In addition to vibration, the device will use LEDs (light-emitting diodes) to blink in synchronisation with audio visual content being played. They will also support DMB mobile TV technology.

The new LG phones will be available in South Korea next year.
