Apple seeks single operator for iPhone

Strategy designed to aid iPhone updates

Apple could partner with just one mobile operator in Europe for its iPhone, according to an interview with Pascal Cagni, vice president of Apple Europe.

In the interview appearing on Heise Online, Cagni said that teaming up a with single mobile operator will make it easier to add new services to the iPhone.

Full details of the iPhone’s European launch strategy have yet to be official announced, despite the fact that a few days ago the handset could be ordered on the German Amazon site for €899 to €999 (£589 to £654). Cagni denied that this will be its final price in Europe.

The iPhone should be ready for shipping in Europe by the end of this year.
