Sony takes Bravia TV brand mobile

New handset uses Bravia TV technology

Sony is to start using its Bravia TV brand name for a new mobile phone line in Japan.

Mobile phone giant NTT Docomo unveiled the new SO903iTV phone during the launch of a number of new handsets for the Japanese market, including the world’s thinnest 3G clamshell mobile phone, today.

Coming in June, the product is the first mobile phone to carry the Bravia brand name Sony uses on LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs. It has a tuner for digital mobile TV broadcasts and uses technology from Sony's LCD TV line to achieve a better picture, according to NTT DoCoMo.

No details of plans for a UK launch were announced at the event.
