Two thirds (35 percent) of Brits have admitted they would make a false claim on their phone insurance, says Rightmobilephone.co.uk
Research by the mobile phone comparison website revealed that 71 percent of Brits have mobile phone insurance.
Furthermore, 18 percent said they had intentionally broken a handset in the past to make a claim on their insurance policy.
Of those that had intentionally broken a phone, more than one in five (22 percent) said that their phone was either scratched or looked worn, which prompted them to break it in a bid to get a brand-new handset.
"When taking out a contract, sales staff will almost always offer some kind of insurance policy. Most people seem to go for the idea, but we were surprised to see just how many had taken advantage of the policy in the past to make a false claim," said Neil McHugh, of rightmobilephone.co.uk.
