As expected Nokia has announced the Lumia 1520 smartphone at its Nokia World event in Abu Dhabi and has been given an official price and release date. Updated on 26/11/13.

It's the phablet device which was leaked prior to the event codenamed 'Bandit'. So here's all the details for the new Lumia 1520 smartphone. The smartphone is first to be announced since Microsoft announced it was buying Nokia's phone business.

Nokia Lumia 1520: Release date

Nokia said at the launche event that the Lumia 1520 will go on sale in a number of countries this quarter (by the end of the year), including the UK.

It's taken a number of weeks for a specific release date to be announced but it has. The Lumia 1520 will go on sale on 6 December.

Nokia Lumia 1520: Price

Nokia has detailed that the Lumia 1520 will cost £38 per month on a contract with O2, with no cost for the handset itself.

Retailers such as Unlocked Mobiles have the Nokia Lumia 1520 priced at around £600 on a SIM-free basis. Nokia said it will sell for $749 excluding tax and subsidies, according to Nokia.
