Apple rules in Singapore

Apple was rated the top manufacturer in Singapore while iOS was the leading operating system in the second quarter of 2013 (Q2 2013), according to Millennial Media's newly released Mobile Mix Report.

Pushing Samsung to the second place, Apple sits at the coveted place of the top manufacturer, and had a 19 percent impression uplift quarter-over-quarter on Millennial Media's platform in Q2 2013.

Rated the number one mobile phone in Singapore, iPhone represented 47 percent of all smartphone impressions in Q2 2013 and impressions from all models of this product grew 17 percent from the first quarter of 2013.

Representing 38 percent of all platform impressions, Samsung was the second largest manufacturer on Millennial Media's platform in Q2 2013.

Samsung had 14 mobile phones in the Top 20 Mobile Phone category, accounting for 40 percent of all smartphone impressions

The company had as many as 14 mobile phones in the Top 20 Mobile Phone category, and its Samsung Galaxy Note II LTE became the second largest mobile phone in Q2 2013.

Popularity of social media apps

Popularity of Mobile Social Media apps is increasing and impressions from these apps grew 43 percent quarter-over-quarter.

Android was the second largest operating system and grew 13 percentage points from the same quarter a year ago. This operating system drove 48 percent of all platform impressions during the second quarter of 2013.

Both entertainment and music were the largest application category in terms of impressions on the independent mobile advertising and data platform, Millennial Media.

Apple's iPad accounted for 64 percent of tablet impressions on Millennial Media's platform in Q2 2013 and this represented 21 percent growth in impressions from the previous quarter.

Smartphones accounted for 79 percent of total platform impressions Millennial Media's platform while non-phone connected devices had 18 percent impression share.
