Huawei is trying to establish itself as a stand-alone manufacturer and brand. Despite being one of the top five largest smartphone vendors, consumers have little knowledge of the firm as its phones are typically rebranded by mobile operators. See also Group test: What's the best smartphone?

Devices sporting the Huawei logo have rarely tipped up the UK and the ones that have went largely unnoticed. See also: Huawei Ascend G330 review.

The Huawei Ascend P6 has a 4.7in 720p display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and an 8Mp camera.

It also offers a slim design with a metal casing as shown in the leaked images above. Anyone else think there are elements which look extremely similar to the iPhone 5?

"We expect the Ascend P6 to work miracles," said Richard Yu, head of Huawei's consumer business group.

Huawei's invitation says the event is for the 'exclusive launch of Huawei’s new product and more', so there could be more smartphones or maybe even a new tablet. The Ascend P6 is likely to launch in the third quarter of this year.
