An insider has told SamMobile that Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 phablet will be launched at IFA later this year. It will also be joined by the Galaxy Tab 3 range of tablets although sizes weren't detailed. See also: Group test: what's the best smartphone?

Samsung has an Unpacked 2013 Episode 2 event coming up at some point in the year which we originally thought would be for the Galaxy Note 3 and possibly the smart watch the firm has said it's definitely making.

This year's IFA kicks off in Berlin on 6 September.

Unfortunately no specifications were available for the Galaxy Note 3 or Galaxy Tab 3. However, the source did confirm the original Galaxy Tab will no longer receive updates. The Galaxy Tab 2 range will be updated to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean but no further.

Although no specs were spoken about, recent leaks suggest the Galaxy Note 3 will have a 5.9in SuperAMOLED display as opposed to a previously rumoured size of 6.3in. It will also feature Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa 8-core processor. See also: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs leaked.

Last but not least, the Samsung insider said that the firm's 'high-range' Android devices will be updated to Android 5.0, codenamed Key Lime Pie. We assume this means devices like the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 8.0 and Galaxy Note 2.

The Galaxy S4 will be released on 26 April with its 5in Full HD screen. Pre-registrations for the smartphone have been through the roof and but no price for the device has been announced yet.
