Here's what we knew before tonight's event...
Galaxy S4 specs
There's been an onslaught of leaks recently which all point towards largely the same set of specifications. This seems to be the area where it seems like we can be confident about what the Galaxy S4 will offer, but you never know. See also: Samsung Galaxy S4 specs confirmed by benchmark app.
To round up all the different specifications, the Galaxy S4 will supposedly come with a 5in Full HD (1080 x 1920) screen, Exynos 5 Octa 5410 8-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz, 2GB of RAM, a 13Mp rear camera and a 2.1Mp front camera.
It will come in 6 different models consisting of black or white colour options and storage capacities of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB just like the iPhone. Like the Galaxy S3, it will have a microSD card slot for expansion. See also: Samsung Galaxy S4 to launch in 6 models.
Other specifications include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Galaxy S4 features
The main Galaxy S4 features, we're talking software wise, which have been leaked are Smart Scroll and Smart Pause. These are a step on from Smart Stay on the Galaxy S3 which kept the screen on as long as you were looking at it.
Smart Scroll will automatically scroll up and down a web page or email, for example, depending on where you are looking on the screen. No more achy thumbs. Smart Pause will pause video content if you look away from the screen.
It's not a feature as such but it's been generally reported that Samsung will retain its physical home button found on the Galaxy S smartphones with two touch sensitive buttons either side for menu and back.
Galaxy S4 design
There has been a number of Galaxy S4 renders leaked online over the months. None of which have convinced us fully as being the final Galaxy S4 design. If it does have a 5in screen, the handset will certainly be larger than the Galaxy S3.
The leaked images generally show a squarer design more akin to the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note 2. Recent reports have suggested that the Galaxy S4 will use a plastic build like the Galaxy S3, we hope this rumour is false.
Here's a couple of the more convincing Galaxy S4 images.
Since these images, Samsung has released its own teaser of the Galaxy S4 showing its design. It looks rather like the Galaxy S3 in our eyes.
Samsung has also released two teaser videos for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Unpacked 2013 event featuring Jeremy the secret messenger looking after the Galaxy S4 in a big white box. They give very little away but here they are for your viewing pleasure.
